Alloy Wheel Repair Swansea
Sea air and city-centre kerbs are a rough combination for alloys. South Wales Alloys repairs corroded diamond cuts, kerbed rims and buckled wheels at our Newport workshop. With collection and delivery across Swansea's SA postcodes, the M4 does the travelling, not you.
Why Swansea Wheels Corrode Faster Than Most
Wheels in Swansea fail differently to wheels further inland. A car parked along Mumbles Road, near the Marina or out towards Langland sits in salt-laden air all year, and from November the gritters coat the A4067 and A483 in more of it. Salt only needs a stone chip to get under the lacquer; then diamond cut wheels develop the milky, worm-like staining that creeps across the polished face, and painted wheels bubble at the rim edge. Neither polishes out, because the damage sits under the clear coat.
The repair is mechanical, not cosmetic. A corroded diamond cut face is skimmed back to fresh metal on our CNC lathe, then re-lacquered to seal it. Flaking painted wheels are chemically stripped and powder coated, an oven-baked finish that resists coastal air far better than wet paint, and the one we recommend for regular Mumbles or Gower runs.
Kerbs, Contraflows and Terraced Streets
Corrosion is only half of what Swansea sends us. Years of Kingsway and city-centre roadworks have meant narrowed lanes, shifted kerb lines and temporary layouts that catch careful drivers, and the multi-storeys around the Quadrant are unforgiving of wide wheels. In Uplands, Brynmill and Sketty, on-street parking on tight terraced streets costs somebody a rim most days. Kerb rash is repaired as part of a full refurbishment; buckles and cracks from potholes on Carmarthen Road or Fabian Way go through straightening and welding first. While the wheels are off we can also refurbish brake calipers and respray bumper scuffs and arch scrapes.
In Newport, But You Rarely Need to Drive
The workshop is at 1-2 Coomassie Street, Newport NP20 2JP, about 45 to 50 minutes east of Swansea on the M4, leaving at Junction 26 for Malpas Road. Most Swansea customers skip that trip, because we collect and deliver:
- Book online through our booking form and get a price for your wheels straight away.
- We collect the car or the loose wheels from your home or workplace in Swansea.
- We deliver everything back finished once the work is done.
Prefer to drop off yourself? Come off the M4 at Junction 26 and we're minutes away. Tyre removal and balancing is added at £15 per wheel, most jobs take 24 hours to a week, and Klarna pay-in-3 lets you spread the cost.
