Alloy wheel refurbishment and repair in Newport
Kerbed, corroded, buckled or cracked, we refurbish and repair alloy wheels at our workshop on Coomassie Street, Newport. The work is carried out in-house by Carl, our workshop manager, and Wiktor. Hydraulic straightening, TIG welding, powder coating and our diamond cutting lathe are all under one roof, so your wheels never have to go anywhere else. Powder coating
A full strip and recoat for alloy wheels and rims, not a quick blow-over. Each wheel is stripped back to bare metal, kerb damage is repaired, then it is primed, coated in your colour and lacquered, baked at 180°C. Gloss black, silver and gunmetal grey can be booked online, and custom colours are quoted.
From £108 per wheel including VAT, £132 over 21 inch.
Diamond cutting
The bright face of a diamond cut alloy wheel is machined metal under a thin lacquer, so it can't just be painted. Once kerbing or a stone chip lets water in, the face goes cloudy. We put the wheel back on our lathe, cut a fresh face and seal it with new lacquer.
£162 per wheel including VAT, £180 over 21 inch.
Straightening and welding
Potholes buckle wheels. A buckle is pressed true on our hydraulic straightener and checked for runout. A crack is TIG welded where it is structurally safe to do so, and straightened too if it needs it. Crack repairs are booked in on Wednesdays.
Straightening £96, crack repair £126, per wheel including VAT with tyre removal and refit.
- Checked first. Every wheel is checked for buckles and cracks before work starts. If we find one, we call you before going any further.
- Tyres. Tyre removal and balancing is £18 per wheel including VAT. Bring bare wheels, or buy new tyres with your booking, and there is no tyre charge.
- Turnaround. Most wheels are turned around in 48 to 72 hours.
- Guarantee. Every powder coated finish is covered for 12 months against peeling, flaking, bubbling and lacquer failure. Read the guarantee.
- Paying. Card, or spread the cost with Klarna pay in 3 or Clearpay pay in 4.
- Drop off. 1-2 Coomassie St, Newport NP20 2JP, Monday to Friday. Pick a day when you book and we call to confirm.
Damaged & heavily corroded to better than new
This damaged and heavily corroded AMG alloy arrived at our Newport workshop in a sorry state. Years of salt, brake dust and kerb strikes had eaten right through the lacquer, leaving the finish dull, flaking and pitted. We stripped it back to bare metal, repaired the damage, then refinished it in gloss black with a precision diamond-cut face. It left sharper than the day it rolled out of the factory.
