Alloy Wheel Repair Pontypool

Whether kerbed on a terraced street, buckled on the valley road, or just dulled by a few Torfaen winters, South Wales Alloys puts Pontypool's wheels right at our Newport workshop, a straight run down the A4042. Drop them off, or ask us to collect.

Why Pontypool Wheels End Up on Our Benches

The A4042 south of Pontymoile is the easy bit. It's the roads either side of it that do the damage. The A4043 up the valley through Abersychan towards Blaenavon runs on patched, winter-worn tarmac where a pothole strike can put a flat spot or a full buckle in a rim. The A472 climb out of town towards Hafodyrynys and Crumlin is another regular culprit: steep, heavily trafficked and unforgiving when the surface breaks up.

Then there's the parking. Terraced streets in Abersychan, Garndiffaith and Trosnant mean tight on-street spaces and daily brushes with the kerb, and the same goes for the streets around Pontypool town centre and Pontypool Park. Down in New Inn, Griffithstown and Sebastopol it's estate corners and school-run squeezes that leave the telltale silver scuff around the rim edge.

None of that damage needs to be permanent. We're a dedicated wheel workshop, not a van on a driveway: CNC diamond-cutting lathe, powder coating ovens, spray facilities and hydraulic straightening kit, all under one roof in Newport.

Common Questions

Pontypool Wheel Repair: Your Questions Answered

How long does it take to get from Pontypool to your workshop? +
From Pontymoile roundabout it's a straight run south on the A4042 past Cwmbran, then the A4051 into Newport, usually 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour. We're at 1-2 Coomassie St, Newport NP20 2JP.
Can you collect wheels from Pontypool? +
Yes. We offer collection and delivery across Torfaen, including Pontypool, New Inn, Griffithstown and Abersychan. Mention it when you request a quote and we'll arrange a day that suits.
A pothole on the A4043 has buckled my wheel. Is it repairable? +
In most cases, yes. We straighten buckled alloys in-house and can weld cracks where it is structurally safe to do so. If a wheel is beyond safe repair, we'll tell you straight rather than refinish something that shouldn't go back on the road.
My alloys are diamond cut. Can you restore the factory finish? +
Yes. We have a CNC lathe in-house, so diamond cut wheels are re-cut on the machine rather than painted over. That's how the original machined two-tone face is put back properly.
Do you charge for tyre removal and refitting? +
Tyre removal and balancing is £15 per wheel. The tyre has to come off for a wheel to be stripped, repaired and refinished correctly, so it's part of every full refurbishment.
Can I spread the cost of a full set? +
Yes. We take Klarna, so you can split the bill into three payments. It's a popular option with customers refurbishing all four wheels at once.
