Powder coating creates a tough, durable acrylic finish that bonds directly to the metal, wrapping around the entire wheel for full coverage. It's more resistant to chips, scratches and general wear than traditional spray paint.
Our comprehensive strip-and-recoat service starts with full preparation, followed by a baked-on powder coat primer, your chosen colour, and a clear lacquer finish baked at 180°C to lock everything in.
How we powder coat your alloy wheels
Every set of alloy wheels and rims gets the same full treatment in our Newport workshop, carried out in-house by Carl, our workshop manager, and Wiktor. This is a strip and recoat, not a quick blow-over on top of the old paint.

Checked and stripped
Tyres come off and every wheel is checked for buckles and cracks. The old finish is chemically stripped and blasted right back to bare metal, so corrosion has nowhere to hide.

Kerbing and scuffs repaired
Kerb damage, scrapes and scratches are ground out and repaired before any powder goes near the wheel.
- 03
Primed, coated and baked
A powder coat primer goes on first, then your chosen colour, then a clear lacquer, baked at 180°C to lock the finish in.

Refitted and balanced
Tyres go back on and are balanced, ready to collect. Most wheels are turned around in 48 to 72 hours.

Pick your colour
Gloss black, silver and gunmetal grey are our standard powder colours for alloy wheels, and you can book any of them online. After something different? We can match your wheels' original factory colour or mix a custom shade, quoted individually. Finishes come in gloss, matte, satin or textured.

Cost, turnaround and guarantee
- Powder coating
- From £108 per wheel including VAT, or £132 for wheels over 21 inch. Kerb damage repair is included.
- Tyre removal and balancing
- £18 per wheel including VAT, itemised on your quote. Bring bare wheels with no tyres and there is no tyre charge. Buy new tyres with your booking and the charge is waived.
- Turnaround
- Most wheels are turned around in 48 to 72 hours. Some sets take longer to strip, depending on how tough the existing coating is.
- Guarantee
- Every powder coated finish is covered for 12 months against peeling, flaking, bubbling and lacquer failure. Read the guarantee.
- Paying
- Card, or spread the cost with Klarna pay in 3 or Clearpay pay in 4.
- Who does the work
- Carl, our workshop manager, and Wiktor, in-house at our workshop on Coomassie Street, Newport.
- Drop off
- 1-2 Coomassie St, Newport NP20 2JP, Monday to Friday. Pick a day when you book and we call to confirm.
Powder coating or a spray respray?
A sprayed wheel is a layer of paint sitting on the surface. Powder coating bonds to the bare metal and wraps around the entire wheel for full coverage, so it stands up to chips, scratches and everyday wear far better than traditional spray paint.
