Diamond cutting is a precision process where a thin layer of the alloy wheel's surface is carefully removed on a CNC lathe, revealing the raw, bright metal underneath. The wheel is then lacquered to protect the finish.
This creates the distinctive two-tone look that gives modern alloy wheels their premium appearance: a bright, reflective machined face contrasted with a painted inner.
Why diamond cut alloy wheels can't just be painted
The shiny face of a diamond cut alloy wheel is bare, machined alloy under a thin clear lacquer. Once a kerb or a stone chip breaks that lacquer, water gets underneath and the face starts to go cloudy, white and patchy.
Paint or powder would hide that bright two tone look for good. The proper repair is to put the wheel back on a lathe, cut a fresh face, then seal it with new lacquer. We do all of it in our Newport workshop on our own machine, so your wheels never leave the workshop.
How we repair diamond cut alloy wheels

A quick phone photo of each wheel and your registration is plenty. Diamond cutting removes a thin layer from the face of the wheel, so we check every set looks suitable before we confirm the price.

We check and book you in
We make sure your wheels suit diamond cutting, then call to book your drop-off day, Monday to Friday. Every wheel is checked for buckles and cracks before work starts.

Cut on our lathe
The faces are CNC machined back to bright metal and sealed with a fresh lacquer. The painted sections are colour matched.

Refitted and ready
Tyres go back on and are balanced, ready to collect. Most wheels are turned around in 48 to 72 hours.

Diamond cut alloy wheel repair cost
Christmas offer: a set of 4 diamond cut alloy wheels up to 21 inch for £550 including VAT, with tyre removal, fitting and balancing free, until Christmas. Claim the £550 price.
- Diamond cutting
- £162 per wheel including VAT, or £180 for wheels over 21 inch. A set of 4 is normally £648.
- Tyre removal and balancing
- £18 per wheel including VAT, itemised on your quote. Buy new tyres with your booking and the charge is waived.
- Turnaround
- Most wheels are turned around in 48 to 72 hours.
- Buckles and cracks
- If we find one we call you before going any further. Straightening is £96 per wheel and crack repair £126 per wheel, both including VAT.
- Paying
- Card, or spread the cost with Klarna pay in 3 or Clearpay pay in 4. Subject to approval, 18+.

- 1-2 Coomassie St, Newport NP20 2JP, Monday to Friday. We call to confirm your day.
Handing back a lease car?
Most premium models leave the factory on diamond cut wheels, and that machined face cannot be restored at the roadside: it has to go back on a lathe. Re-cutting a kerbed wheel before the end of contract inspection means one less damage line on the return report.
Diamond cut or powder coat?
